God's Promise - Genesis 8:20-22

20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. 21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. 22"As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease." - Genesis 8:20-22

Though the land was dry, Noah did not leave the ark until the Lord told Him to leave. As a result of his obedience, Noah witnessed the God's faithfulness.

Our first inclination, when faced with a trial, is to seek safety or protection for ourselves. But, this is not the Lord's way. He alone knows the best time for us to be delivered from the hardships that we face in life.

If we do not wait upon the Lord's leading, we may find ourselves in yet another season of trial. Perhaps, this is why the Lord states that "those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings as eagles. They shall run and not grow weary. They shall walk and not faint."

When we do not know which way to go, as our season of trial ends, it is always best to wait upon the Lord's leading. In so doing, we can be assured that we will not stumble or falter again.

After allowing the flood waters to destroy all that was living on the earth, the Lord promised Himself that He would never again destroy all living creatures, as He had with the flood. Yet, we know that this earth, and everything on it, is temporary. The Lord is preparing a new heaven and a new earth.

We can take some comfort in knowing that while this earth remains, the sun will continue to rise and to set, and the seasons will come and go, just as they always have.
